It is said that Chinaman's Hat is the remains of a giant mo'o (lizard god). The island is most accessible from the state's Kualoa Regional Beach Park. Getting to the island is up to you. Obviously, this requires crossing a body of water in some manner: kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, boating, etc. The island trail is a short but challenging 206-foot climb to the top.

- Off the Kamehameha Highway offshore from the Kualoa Point State Recreation Area, approximately 45 minute drive from Honolulu.
- Check bus schedule from The Bus.
- Commute time = 60-90 minutes from Ala Moana Center (via bus)
