If you are going to Oahu, you should not miss a chance to see a
Japanese temple in Hawaii. Byodo-in Temple, built in 1968 to honor the first settlers to immigrate to Hawaii, is a replica of a 900-year-old Buddhist temple in Kyoto. You'll get a sense of Japan's temple without having to go to Narita.
If you just want to relax and spend some time with beautiful scenery, Byodo-In Temple is the right place to go.

A camera is a must-have gadget for this trip. There is also a very good gift shop that sells cards, souvenirs, films, and some refreshments. Visiting the Byodo-in Temple is not only for sightseeing, but also to get a feeling about history and culture. Be prepared to visit the Valley of the Temples, as this is one place that visitors should definitely see when visiting the island of Oahu. |
Inside the temple is a statue of Buddha-the god. The Buddha is made of wood and with black lacquer. There is also a dot in the middle of its forehead which represents a third eye. The third eye is "the vision to the spiritual world". |
