IAO Valley State Park is one of the
most visited place on Maui. This park features "IAO Needle"
which is a natural rock pinnacle presiding over the 'Iao
stream and surrounded by the walls of the Pu'u Kukui
Crater. The Valley is named after 'Iao, the beautiful
daughter of Maui.
|
During the old time, the valley was used as a lookout by
warriors. Local Hawaiian people believes that IAO Needle is
the final resting place for some of the island's highest
chiefs.

After a short walk from the parking lot, you'll arrive at a
bridge where most people stop to take pictures of IAO
Needle. This is a great attraction to see for your vacation
in Maui because it's easy to get to and doesn't require
hiking. |
