IAO Needle

IAO Needle
IAO Valley State Park is one of the most visited place on Maui. This park features "IAO Needle" which is a natural rock pinnacle presiding over the 'Iao stream and surrounded by the walls of the Pu'u Kukui Crater. The Valley is named after 'Iao, the beautiful daughter of Maui.
During the old time, the valley was used as a lookout by warriors. Local Hawaiian people believes that IAO Needle is the final resting place for some of the island's highest chiefs.
