ooking for Hawaii buses and taxis for getting around the islands when visiting is a major
concern, but on Oahu, there are plenty of options to choose from.
Whether by car, bus, taxi, trolley, moped, motorcycle or bicycle,
getting around Oahu is fun and easy.
Experience
the wonders of Oahu by tour bus, or take a fascinating journey on the
island's public transportation system, TheBus. It's inexpensive,
convenient and one of the best ways to see the island and its people.
Taxis
are plentiful and can get you from one point to another in no time. Or,
if two wheeled vehicles are preferred, there are a number of companies
that rent mopeds, motorcycles and bicycles.
There
are three major freeways on the island and hundreds of connecting
highways and thoroughfares. To get better acquainted with Oahu's roads,
east is commonly called the Diamond Head direction; west is called the
Ewa direction; Mauka is toward the mountain and Makai is toward the
ocean.
The stunning beauty of the island can also be enjoyed by seaplane, helicopter or glider ride.
Hawaii Public Transit
So, what are you waiting for! Oahu has the most options, especially with the Honolulu buses — TheBus — which has routes throughout the island. Riding TheBus gets you closer to the people who live there and can often get you off
the beaten path, which can be a positive or a negative, depending on
how adventurous you are. So, get out there and meet the locals and see
the sites.

Honolulu Airport Shuttle Services
The
are many shuttle services serving the Honolulu International Airport.
Some operate 24/7, others work more limited hours. If you have too much
luggage for TheBus, taxi or a limo, this is the way to go. Extra bags
may attract an extra fee, but it's reasonable. Most will take you to,
or pick you up from, your Waikiki hotel or condo.
Hawaii Coach Tours
Prefer
to just site back and watch the scenery go by while an experienced
guide/driver informs you of the scenery and historical sites you're
passing by. Well, maybe a coach tour is in your cards. If you only need
occasional transportation, or prefer to learn a little more of the
sites you see, coach tours are an ideal way to get out with a
like-minded group and tour the island.

Hawaii Taxi Services
Want
more privacy, but still want to leave the driving to a local, well, try
taxi services. Not only do they offer door-to-door service 24/7, but
many also do local tours. So, gather the gang and head out for a few
hours or a day with a local who knows his turf intimately.
Trolley Services
Want
to go tourist all the way. Well, trolley services will give you that
quintessential tourist experience while in Honolulu. A ride in one of
these open-air, replica trolleys is a fun experience not to be missed.
The last time I rode one, every second trolley was wheelchair
accessible — wheelchair users, and some others, face out — so access
may be even better now, so give them a go, it's fun and inexpensive.
So,
as you can see, Oahu is well stocked with transportation options to go
door-to-door or to just check out the beauty that is, Oahu.
