Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park

Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park
Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park is one of the best cultural historic sites on the island. You can get self-guided tour brochures and maps at Visitor Center. Puuhonua O Honaunau served as a 16th-century place of refuge, providing sanctuary for defeated warriors and taboo violators. This place is a United States National Historical Park located on the west coast of the island of Hawaii.
These thatched A-frame structures were used for storage.
Wooden Kii are carved images of gods. They're guarding the sanctuary.
